Cowboy and Vampire
September 2009
- Photoshop and Graphic Design
- WordPress
- HTML & CSS
- PHP & MySQL
The book Cowboy and Vampire was released in 1999, however for its re-release in 2010, it was decided that the book needed a website to market itself. The authors approached us to create a design that reflected the juxtaposition of the two characters in the book. Also, various pages would be Vampire specific and Cowboy specific, so it was important to keep a consistent underlying design, but make it obvious which character the page referred to (Cowboy: “Ask A Cowboy”,Vampire: “Vlog”).
Girl Talk Illustrated
January 2011
- jQuery
- Youtube API Integration
- HTML & CSS
With the new Girl Talk album All Day, listeners hustle to figure out what the samples are for each song and map them out. Each song has between 20 and 40 samples, ranging from quick drum fills to minute long guitar loops. As a fun project, I decided to map out where in the song these samples lined up and have them show up with the song. Using jQuery and the Youtube API, the page builds all the samples into rectangles that sit along a timeline. As the song plays, the samples light up and show the current artists and songs. It was an exciting project and a fun way to really capture the complexities and interactivity the web is capable of today.
Bridgetown Comedy Festival
April 2009 & April 2010
- Photoshop and Graphic Design
- WordPress
- HTML & CSS
- PHP
The Bridgetown Comedy festival started in April 2008 bringing nationally touring comedians to Portland’s Hawthorne district. The original website was static and tricky to update and view information. Joshua Bremer Designs was approached to create a fresh design with functionality to help the organizers dynamically add performers, shows and venues as opposed to recreating a PDF every day. Using WordPress’s internal taxonomies, custom PHP and SQL, we were able to create a database driven design that let users move seamlessly from performer to specific shows to schedules, having them all connected by a simple category structure.
Kristi Does PDX

- WordPress
- HTML & CSS
- PHP
A friend of mine Kristi always seems to have the best ideas of what to do in town and had always wanted to create a blog to show these things. I helped implement a WordPress theme that would present all her photography, and set up some custom PHP to integrate upcoming events with her front page.
